Omaha Homeowners Still Recovering from Spring Storms

The Rooferees are still trying to help Omaha homeowners recover from Spring storms. If your home or business was damaged in a recent storm, you may still be waiting to find the right contractor for your job.

The Rooferees have some advice – be aware and choose a local company!

Companies that arrive in storm-hit areas have a history of convincing customers to sign documents before an estimate is agreed upon, putting them in a position to negotiate with insurance companies for higher settlements. This often occurs without the homeowners’ knowledge – until their insurance company drops them!

Here are some warning signs that a roofing or siding company may not be local – and should be avoided:

  • A salesperson who shows up at your door unannounced or without an appointment. Be leery of someone arriving and asking to check your roof for damage. You wouldn’t buy a brand-new car from a door-to-door salesman – so don’t buy a roof from one!
  • A salesperson with out-of-state license plates and a cell phone number with a different area code. These are obvious signs they aren’t local.
  • If you don’t recognize the company name, there is a good chance they aren’t local. If you look and don’t recognize the name, they are not local or reputable
  • Don’t be afraid to look up a business on Google to learn how long they have been in business, or check its rating with the Better Business Bureau. You want a business with a strong reputation!
  • Many stormchasers will claim to be local by dropping well-known names of local athletes or claiming to live in the neighborhood. Challenge them! Ask if they are familiar with other people or facts that all residents should know!

They may be promising the lowest price in town, but if sounds too good to be true – it probably is!

Weatherguard Inc. is owned and operated by founder John Higgins. John was born and raised in Omaha, and he is involved with the day-to-day operations of Weatherguard Inc., along with his son Colin Higgins. When you call the Rooferees, you can trust you will work with a local, family-owned and operated company that will be here to serve you down the road if you have questions or need additional services.

Your home or business is an investment, don’t settle for empty promises – choose the best!
