The Cloisters on the Platte, a religious retreat center, officially opened recently. Construction of the much-anticipated project began about 18 months ago and we were honored to be involved.
The retreat center sits on nearly 1000 acres near the Platte River and includes seven guest lodges, each with ten private bedroom suites, a chapel retreat center building and a courtyard. Joe Ricketts, founder of TD Ameritrade, established The Cloisters on the Platte Foundation to manage the retreat center.
Weatherguard Inc. installed a DaVinci roof on one of the six guest lodges, and wood shake, slate and standing seam metal on the others. Each has a unique look to match the design of the distinctive buildings. We finished the last roof in early June after 18 months of involvement with the project.
It was an honor for the Rooferees to be involved with this unique project, and we particularly enjoyed the opportunity to work with architects from across the country. It was a pleasure to work directly with Lueder Construction from Omaha and Big D Construction from Park City, Utah.
As a show of gratitude, the Cloisters on the Platte Foundations invited many of the contractors who worked on this project to the center for a soft opening before the official opening. Trent Lovewell, vice president of business development, represented Weatherguard at this special retreat. It was very gratifying to see the completed project and the experience was truly trans-formative.
If you have the opportunity to attend a retreat at the Cloisters on the Platte, you should! The grounds are peaceful, surrounded by spectacular views, and the facilities are beautiful, down to every last detail. We hope you enjoy the experience as much as we have enjoyed being part of this special project.
