Two hometown college basketball teams met on the court last week for a good cause. The mens’ basketball teams from Creighton University and the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) played each other in an exhibition game on October 26.
The preseason exhibition game drew a crowd of more than 8,200 and all proceeds from the event will benefit the American Red Cross’s hurricane relief fund.
The Rooferees from Weatherguard Inc. – John Higgins and Trent Lovewell – officiated the game and donated their wages for the game to the hurricane relief fund. Pete Larson officiated the game as well.
“We were excited to have the opportunity to share our love for hometown basketball in the preseason,” said Higgins. “The fact that we could also contribute to the hurricane relief efforts made the deal even better!”
